Renovating a 60’s Kitchen

If you grew up in a brick ranch home built in the 60’s chances are your kitchen looked something similar to this one pictured below.

It was small, had dark wooden cabinets, and poor lighting.

Before

The client wanted a lighter and brighter kitchen with more lighting and updated fixtures, and some additional cabinets to the right of the range for more storage.

Demo

We start by removing all of the old cabinetry and prepping for the new. Usually in a home this age you have to deal with some old cast iron or galvanized plumbing issues. In this case the client had been experiencing issues with a slow drain that we were able to address with some new pvc piping and a new studor vent.

Setting Cabinets

Once the demo is complete you can begin to set cabinets to get ready for the template for your stone countertop.

Countertops and Flooring Installed

While we were waiting for countertops to come in we installed new LVP flooring and covered it for protection and added recessed lighting. Next is backsplash and paint.

Kitchen Completed

White shaker cabinets with a sea blue ceramic backsplash tile and the new pendant light over the sink really bring this kitchen up to date.
